Rostov medical university professor jailed for five years for taking bribes from students


Victoria Prohodnaya, a professor at the Rostov State Medical University, was sentenced to five years in prison. For money, she allowed students to pass exams without actually testing their knowledge.

A court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced a professor at the Department of Dentistry of the Rostov State Medical University Victoria Prokhodnaya to five years in prison for accepting bribes from students and official forgery, reports the press service of the courts of the Rostov region.

She was convicted of 14 counts of official forgery and 22 counts of accepting a bribe. From March 2017 to March 2020, she received money from students in exchange for tests and exam grades. The students’ factual knowledge was not tested, the court found.

In total, the medical university teacher received bribes worth 491 thousand rubles. In addition to the actual sentence, she will have to pay a fine of half a million rubles. She was also deprived of the right to engage in teaching activities for three years.
