A businessman from Ulyanovsk was sentenced to four years in a maximum security colony for giving a bribe to the head of the regional Ministry of Health. For 2 million rubles. he hoped to become a supplier of medical equipment to regional hospitals under a national project.
The court in Ulyanovsk sentenced the founder of the Alliance Clinic network and the Alliance Medinvest company 60 year old Sergei Kurkov for giving a bribe to the ex-Minister of Health of the region Alexander Gashkov. The businessman was sentenced to four years in a maximum security colony and a fine of 8 million rubles. He was supposed to be taken into custody in the courtroom, but when the decision was made, Kurkov collapsed on the floor, and medical workers decided to hospitalize him, reports the local portal 73online.ru.
Kurkov was accused of trying to transfer 2 million rubles to the former head of the Ministry of Health of the Ulyanovsk region in the summer of 2022. in gratitude for the help in winning the auction for the supply of expensive medical equipment to hospitals in the region under the national project “Healthcare,” MV reported. Gashkov pretended that he agreed to take the money, but reported the bribe-taker to the FSB and transferred the entire amount to law enforcement agencies.
According to Kurkov’s defense, the minister asked for a loan, there was no talk of a bribe. Gashkov’s actions are called provocation. The defendant did not admit guilt in his last plea.

Alexander Gashkov left the post of Minister of Health of the Ulyanovsk region of his own free will on July 8 last year.
