Four hospital accountants who stole more than 300 million rubles over five years will be tried in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The funds came from the territorial compulsory medical insurance fund, allegedly for payments to health workers.
The prosecutor’s office of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug) approved the indictment in the criminal case of four former employees of the Labytnang city hospital. They are accused of fraud with compulsory medical insurance funds, the press service of the supervisory agency reported.
According to the investigation, four employees of the accounting department of a medical institution, under the leadership of the chief accountant, stole 314 million rubles in 2016–2021. by entering into financial documents deliberately false information about the amount of accrued wages and other payments to employees. In addition, the defendants committed illegal circulation of payment funds.
In August 2023, the Arbitration Court of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug ordered the Labytnang City Hospital to return 95.7 million rubles to the budget of the territorial compulsory medical insurance fund. The medical institution tried to challenge this decision, but the Eighth Arbitration Court of Appeal in October dismissed the appeal.
The decision on the criminal case will be made by the Labytnang City Court.
