A case was opened in Bashkiria regarding the supply of 34 unregistered ventilators

Cases have been opened in Bashkortostan regarding the supply of dubious ventilators – 34 units of such medical equipment, not registered in Russia, were installed in hospitals in the region.

In Bashkiria, criminal cases have been initiated regarding the supply of low-quality and unregistered medical products worth 88.7 million rubles. As the press service of the republican prosecutor’s office reported, in August 2020 and July 2022, 34 artificial lung ventilation devices (ventilators) and some “diagnostic equipment” were delivered to nine medical institutions of the republic – all medical products are not registered in Russia.

It is impossible to confirm the quality of medical equipment, since its parameters differ from those declared by the manufacturer and indicated in the documents. Substandard medical devices were confiscated. Due to the incident, at the request of the prosecutor’s office, the regional government and the Ministry of Health are conducting an audit of all medical equipment supplied to the republic.

This is not the first time that mass supplies of low-quality ventilators have become known. In the spring of 2020, at the height of the pandemic, the Vladimir prosecutor’s office discovered the supply of ventilators that were 15 years overdue.

Some scandals with mechanical ventilation have already occurred in Bashkiria. Thus, in 2021, the FAS revealed a conspiracy between the Department of the Ministry of Health of Bashkortostan and one of the companies at the auction for the purchase of ventilators, as a result of which the price for them under the contract was inflated by 180%.
