The effect of Order of the Ministry of Health of Russia No. 198n dated March 19, 2020 on the temporary operating procedures of medical organizations in the conditions of COVID-19 has been extended for a year, despite the official end of the disease pandemic.
The Ministry of Justice registered Order of the Ministry of Health of Russia No. 721n dated December 26, 2023, which extends the validity of departmental order No. 198n dated March 19, 2020 “On the temporary procedure for organizing the work of medical organizations in order to implement measures to prevent and reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection.” The document is available on MV.
Order No. 198n provides, in particular, for mandatory testing for coronavirus before hospitalization, regulates routing schemes for patients with ARVI and community-acquired pneumonia, and the procedure for providing primary medical care to people with suspected COVID-19 at home. The validity of the document has been extended several times.
The Ministry of Health explained the need to extend the temporary rules in December last year by the increase in COVID-19 cases in recent weeks.
The department has repeatedly made changes to the document. For example, senior secondary education students studying in the Nursing program were allowed to provide outpatient care to patients with COVID-19; dentists and pediatricians were allowed to conduct medical examinations of patients before vaccination against coronavirus.
The global health emergency for COVID-19 was in effect from the end of January 2020 to May 2023. After its cancellation, Russia stopped publishing daily statistics on morbidity.
