The Moscow City Court sentenced the former deputy head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations to five years in prison in a general regime colony Andrey Gurovich on charges of abuse of power (Part 3 of Article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). He is also prohibited from holding positions in government bodies of the Russian Federation related to the exercise of organizational and administrative powers and functions of a government representative for a period of two years, the joint press service of the Moscow courts reported on December 29.
The trial took place in the Moscow City Court behind closed doors, since the case contains classified materials.
According to investigators, in 2020 Gurovich organized the allocation of more than 969 million rubles from the federal budget. for the construction of a field hospital in the village of Murmashi, Murmansk region, to treat patients with coronavirus infection. The facility was built without taking into account the climatic conditions of the region, was not used for its intended purpose and was dismantled. As a result, material damage was caused to the region’s budget, MV reported.
According to RBC, the case also involved a mobile hospital in Ivanovo, for the construction of which 2.5 billion rubles were allocated.
Gurovich denied his guilt.
