One of the developers of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against COVID-19, Boris Naroditsky, has died. He was 82 years old.
At the age of 82, the Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the Institute of Virology named after. DI. Ivanovsky and one of the creators of the Russian vaccine “Sputnik V” against COVID-19, professor and doctor of biological sciences Boris Naroditsky, the director of the Research Center named after. Gamaleya Alexander Ginzburg.
Naroditsky collaborated with the Institute of Virology named after. DI. Ivanovsky since the late 1970s, as well as with the Center. Gamaleya (since 2002), wrote more than 200 scientific papers, received over 20 copyright certificates and patents for inventions. EgorThe works were awarded a diploma of the prize named after. N.F. Gamaleya of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and the “Calling” prize.
In October 2021 Naroditsky was awarded the Order of Honor. He is one of the creators of the vector viral platform on the basis of which the Sputnik V vaccine was developed. He was also awarded the medal “For Services to National Healthcare”.
“This is a huge loss for me. I have never hidden the fact that I consulted with him on all scientific problems and scientific-organizational issues,” said Gunzburg.
Farewell to Boris Naroditsky will take place on Saturday, January 13, in the funeral hall of the Central Clinical Hospital.
