Senators proposed legalizing the purchase of hygiene products for patients at the expense of compulsory medical insurance funds

Among other things, the senators propose to “consider the possibility of clarifying the legal status of standards and clinical recommendations from the standpoint of their mandatory implementation” and “inclusion of medical devices in standards and clinical recommendations in order to increase their accessibility for patients.” These two questions were included after the speech of the President of the League of Patient Advocates Alexander Saversky.

Nowadays, the purchase of items to create a comfortable stay for patients in the hospital is usually recognized by experts from medical insurance organizations (HMOs) as an inappropriate waste, and the funds are required to be returned to the budget of the territorial compulsory medical insurance fund and a fine to be paid.
